DREAM CONCERT 2011
My friend and I were in Seoul desperately searching for tickets to the biggest joint arena concert in South Korea, where all of our favorite artists were to perform, when we got a phone call. To represent the growing popularity of Korean pop, Dream Concert as it was called, was to have foreigners perform Kpop dance covers as its opening act, and the woman on the phone asked if we, two Swedes, wanted to be part of it.
None of us were dancers or had any experiences performing in front of large audiences, but it was a true once in a lifetime opportunity, an in many senses symbolic act and a way for us to expand the things we were there to explore.
Part of the performance was broadcasted on South Korean TV. The tall white woman with a Swedish flag on her t-shirt is me.
